About Karen Luttrell
Karen helps charities raise more money, find more volunteers, and fill their programs using effective communications. She led marketing and communications for The Micronutrient Initiative, Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange, Canadian Women’s Foundation, and Family Service Association of Toronto before launching her own communications service for nonprofits in June 2010. She has since served clients working in health, literacy, equality, and poverty reduction. Karen is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the International Association of Business Communicators. She volunteers as VP Communications for PWAC (Professional Writers Association of Canada), Toronto Chapter.
Three things set Karen and her services apart from other writers.
1. She holds an Honours BA in linguistics – formal training to assess effective language style for specific audiences and media.
2. Her marketing and communications training gives her a solid understanding of the theory behind your strategy and goals.
3. Her extensive experience leading in-house marketing and communications gives her a deep understanding of the practical challenges faced by many nonprofits.
